images/fact sheet on the countries of the gulf ofThis factsheet is to enable the public to understand the socio-economic and political situation of the countries of the Gulf of Guinea and how these compare either favorably or unfavorably with other countries in Africa which are not part of the Gulf of Guinea. The data used in this factsheet have been taken from sources which could be considered as reputable such as the UNDP Human Development Report published every year measuring the level of human development in some selected UN member countries, the Freedom House Index that measures the level of political freedom, Transparency International, the Fund for Peace and the IMF. The factsheet has been divided into three; political governance, socio-economic and human development and the proportion of revenues from the extractive industries that is included as part of the states’ budgets.
